Child psychologist diagnoses problems and disorders in childrens and adolescents, as well as parental counselling.
First meeting of parents with a child psychologist is an interview about child's development, family situation, how the child functions in preschool/school environement. Younger children come to a second meeting along with parents, teens usually come to a first meeting.
After the interview, psychologist presents a diagnostic or therapeutic plan.
Psychological diagnosis usually takes 1 or 2 meetings with parents and 2 to 4 meetings with a child. If there is a need, psychologist will direct a child for psychiatric, educational or speach therapy counsel.
Diagnosis is set based on interview data from both parents and a child as well as psychological testing.
After the diagnostic process is finished, planned therapy is implemented.
